Week 7 & 8

For the past two weeks, we took a journey back in time. In has been eight months since we had our DNETCOM class where we discussed about basic network architecture concepts. Familiar concepts such as hubs, switches, routers, broadcast and collision domains have been recalled because once again, we will be meeting with one of our old friends, the Packet Tracer. Packet Tracers mean more exercises for everyone and somehow it feels good to be back on using it once more. But this time, the old will be introduced with the new. Some of the well-known security systems like firewalls, honeypots, virtual private networks and intrusion detection systems entered the scene. Honestly, it has been a long time since I've configured my last Packet Tracer exercise and it was from last year. Anyways, the exercise we had required us to set Access Control Lists where a specific traffic from one source must be directed to its desired destination only. It took a while before we got the right configurations required in the exercise.
